Security (K-12)

Schools use a variety of security elements and procedures to help promote safety.  From physical security measures such as layered entryways, surveillance systems, and the presence of school resource officers, to cybersecurity measures to keep data safe, security is an important aspect of school safety.  According to the National Center for Educator Statistics, "In the 2015–16 school year, 94 percent of public schools reported that they controlled access to school buildings by locking or monitoring doors during school hours," 81 percent used security cameras, and 68 percent required picture IDs or badges be worn by faculty/staff.
